Connecting with Credit Union Members Through Social Media
Social media is a cost-effective and instantaneous way to connect with credit union members, journalists, thought-leaders, influencers, and business partners. With 70% of Americans now actively using social media networks, your posts have the ability to garner a huge reach with relatively little spend.
However, many credit unions still feel intimidated by social media. Either they don’t know how to get started, or they are concerned about the potential exposure and risks that can come with social marketing efforts.
Finding the right channels for your credit union and then developing content that will help you best engage with the right audience can be tricky.
There is a wide variety of social media platforms to choose from with even more being introduced every year. Each is geared to a specific audience with specific expectations:
- Snapchat
In our experience, marketing via social media is not too much of a challenge, if you have the right plan. It does require an investment of time and energy if you’re going to do it well. Above all else, social media is personal, and how your credit union chooses to participate in these channels should be a thoughtful and meaningful engagement with your members.
We’ve developed a useful guide discussing the benefits of each of the above social channels. Download our free E-Book: Making Social Media Work for Your Credit Union to find out which platforms are best for your credit union!
